Founded in 2005, Education Futures Group, LLC focuses on the acquisition of accredited post-secondary schools in the United States. EFG’s schools offer certificates, degrees, and diplomas in a variety of different fields, including healthcare, business, technology, legal and other trades. EFG made its first acquisition in June 2006 when it purchased Computer Career Center in El Paso, Texas. In April 2007, EFG opened CCC’s first branch campus in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Also in 2007, EFG acquired Certified Careers Institute in Utah, which gave the company locations in Salt Lake City and Clearfield. Later that same year, EFG finalized the acquisition of Texas Computer Training Institute, which had a campus in Lubbock, Texas.
In 2009, CCI and TCTI were rebranded and relicensed as Computer Career Center, a Division of Vista College. Computer Career Center opened a Beaumont, TX campus in December 2010. Computer Career Center, a Division of Vista College changed its name to Vista College in 2011.
Vista College continued its growth by opening new branch campuses in Longview, Texas in September 2011. The Killeen, Texas branch was opened January 2013. Vista College continued by opening its College Station branch campus in March of 2014.
Vista College’s latest branch campus was opened in Fort Smith, Arkansas in late 2015.
Today, Vista College is one of the most popular and recognized institutions of higher education in the south-central United States. About Jim Tolbert
Jim Tolbert is the Chief Executive Officer of Education Futures Group d/b/a Vista College, a company formed with Prospect Partners, a Chicago, IL based investment company in 2006.
Prior to forming EFG, Mr. Tolbert was the Chief Financial Officer and a Shareholder of Virginia College, a Birmingham, AL based career college, until the sale of the company in December 2004. Prior to investing in and joining Virginia College, Mr. Tolbert was the Founder and CEO of Career College Loan Company, a specialty consumer finance company, providing tuition financing to the for-profit education sector. Mr. Tolbert has also worked for McKinsey & Company in the Financial Institutions Group and Morgan Stanley International in the Mergers & Acquisitions Department.
Mr. Tolbert was appointed by Governor Riley to serve on the Alabama Workforce Investment Board. He also served on the Jefferson County, Alabama Workforce Investment Board.
Mr. Tolbert is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Career College Association (currently known as APSCU), his company’s industry association, and served nine years on the Board Directors, four of which were as an officer.
Mr. Tolbert has a Bachelor of Science in Economics, summa cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
While in Birmingham, Mr. Tolbert served on the Boards of Directors of the American Israel Chamber of Commerce, the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, and Tech Birmingham. He served on the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Jewish Federation and as the Treasurer. Mr. Tolbert was also active in Israel Bonds, chairing several events. He was awarded the Federation’s Young Leadership Award in 2002.
Since moving to Dallas in 2008, with his wife and two children, Mr. Tolbert is serving on Executive Committee of the Jewish Community Relations Council, the Israel Bonds Cabinet, and the Board of Directors of the Dallas Holocaust Museum. Mr. Tolbert has continued his involvement with Jewish Federation and has chaired several committees. Mr. Tolbert has also been active with the American Heart Association and the Dallas Worlds Affairs Council.
